Edit by hand
Or just ask

Veil is a native video editor. A timeline that keeps up, an AI agent that can do anything your hand can, voices that run on your machine and music made for your cut.

Edit

A timeline that keeps up

Tracks, clips, text, transitions and effects, with every parameter in reach and keyframed where it matters. A library made once for every project: mattes, film looks, textures and transitions that run on the GPU, the same in preview and in export.

  • GPU compositor
  • Hardware decode
  • Proxies & waveforms in the background
The inspector of a video clip: transform, crop, opacity, transitions and a film look with grain and flicker.
The library of mattes: iris circle, clock wipe, blinds, star wipe, pixel dissolve, tunnel and more.

Agent

An agent with hands

Say what you want: cut the pauses, put the map under scene two, make it feel like film. The agent looks at the frames, uses the same tools you do, and every turn lands as one undo step. Cost and context are on screen as it works, and you set the budget.

  • Sees the picture
  • One Ctrl+Z per turn
  • z.ai · OpenRouter · Anthropic
  • Claude Code over MCP
The agent at work: rendering frames, looking at them, with cost, cache and a step budget shown.

Script & voice

Write it, hear it

Start from words. Each scene gets its line, a voice and its shots, and Veil speaks it, times it and lays it on the timeline. Voices run on your machine: Veil Speak gives every line a voice, Veil Listen times every word, and Veil Voice Design shapes a new voice from a description or clones one.

  • Text to speech
  • Word-timed subtitles
  • Voice design & cloning
  • Offline
The script panel: scenes with their lines, a voice, pictures with in point, length, speed and camera moves.

Also from Veil

Veil Lab, a drum machine of its own

A separate app for rhythm: sequence it, shape every sound, mix it. Every drum is synthesized by Veil Synth, our synthesis engine built from the DSP up, the same engine that writes music to the exact length of a cut.

The sequencer: twelve rows from kick to FX, per-step velocity, repeat, chance and pitch, patterns A to L and a song row.
Twelve rows, every step its own. Velocity, repeat, chance, pitch and nudge per hit, patterns that chain into a song, and new grooves generated in a style.
The sound designer: a kick's waveform and spectrum, its shape controls and a blend between four kicks.
Shape a sound, then blend it. Every drum is synthesized: tune, drop, punch and decay, with a blend between sounds you like and variants a click away.
The mixer: twelve channels with drive, EQ, compression and sends, returns for delay and reverb, and a master measured in LUFS.
Mixed to a number. Drive, EQ and compression per channel, delay and two reverbs on sends, and a master measured in LUFS and true peak.

Under the hood

Native, all the way down

Engine

Rust, end to end

No browser in a window, no runtime in between. It starts fast and stays fast.

Render

GPU compositing

wgpu and WGSL shaders for transforms, transitions, text and effects, at 60 fps.

Media

Hardware decode

FFmpeg 9 with VideoToolbox, NVDEC, VAAPI and D3D11VA, zero-copy where the GPU allows.

Projects

One file, always saved

A single .veil file, saved two seconds after every change. The cache is shared, so a project moves as one file.

Voices

On your machine

Veil Speak, Veil Listen and Veil Voice Design run locally. Your script never has to leave the room.

Interface

Three skins, two densities

Dark, Light and Everforest, sized for a pointer or for touch.
